Democratic Party on Public Education
Calling on Whitmer to condemn the Democratic Party statement

On Saturday January 15th the Michigan Democratic Party made the following statement:

“Not sure where this “parents-should-control-what-is-taught-in-schools-because-they-are-our-kids” is originating, but parents do have the option to send their kids to a hand-selected private school at their own expense if this is what they desire. The purpose of a public school is not to teach kids only what parents want them to be taught.  It is to teach them what society needs them to know. The client of the public school is not the parent, but the entire community, the public.

I responded quickly by pointing out the statement being entirely off base from a legal perspective (MCL 380.10), and morally the disrespect to parents is sickening.  My comment received overwhelming positive response from concerned parents.  The TikTok I posted received over 20,000 views with huge support against the Michigan Dems statement.

After receiving an abundance of backlash, the Michigan Democratic Party erased the post, issuing an apology.  Even with an apology, the true colors of the Michigan Democrats are revealed, it doesn’t change the fact this is how Democrats truly feel about public education and parents’ rights.

I am calling on Gretchen Whitmer to condemn the Michigan Democratic Party’s statement on public education.

Parents have the natural and fundamental right, and obligation to know and be part of what their children are being taught in public school.  The state is to serve the people, not serve a state sponsored, radical leftist agenda.

Condemn your party’s statement, Governor Whitmer! Michigan Dems, throw in the towel, Michigan does not want your communist agenda!
